How Do You Protect My Belongings During the Move? – FAQ from iBox Moving

How Do You Protect My Items During the Move?

At iBox Moving, the safety of your belongings is our top priority. We use professional tools, materials, and techniques to make sure everything arrives at your new home in the same condition it left.

Furniture Protection

  • Blanket Wrapping: All large furniture pieces are wrapped in thick moving blankets to prevent scratches and dents.
  • Shrink Wrap: Used on upholstered furniture or items with drawers to secure them during transport.
  • Mattress Bags: Optional covers to keep your mattress clean and dry — available upon request.

Floor and Doorway Protection

We can use runners and door jamb protectors upon request, especially in buildings with strict HOA or apartment move-out rules.

Boxed and Fragile Items

  • We stack and secure boxes tightly in the truck to prevent shifting.
  • Fragile items (glass, dishes, electronics) are labeled and handled with care.
  • Heavy boxes go on the bottom, lighter ones on top — always balanced and safe.

Special Handling for Delicate Items

For pianos, art, TVs, mirrors, or high-value pieces, we use extra padding and proper tie-downs inside the truck. Let us know in advance so we can bring what’s needed.

Do You Offer Extra Insurance?

We’re fully licensed and insured. Basic valuation coverage is included with every move. If you want full value protection, we can walk you through options or connect you with a third-party insurer.

Want Extra Peace of Mind?

Let us know what matters most to you — and we’ll take extra steps to secure it. Our crews are trained to treat your home and belongings with care and respect.

Moving Tips & Guides

What Not To Pack explained in our moving guide

What Not to Pack When Moving – Items You Should Never Load on the Truck

Some Things Are Better Left Out of the Truck

While most household items are safe to move, there are a few that should never go into the moving truck — for legal, safety, or practical reasons. Here’s what iBox Moving recommends keeping out of your moving boxes.

1. Flammable and Hazardous Materials

Gasoline, propane, paint thinners, matches, fire extinguishers, cleaning solvents, and similar items are not allowed. These materials pose a serious fire and safety risk during transport.

2. Perishable Food

Food that can spoil — dairy, meats, frozen or refrigerated items — should be consumed or donated before the move. These items can leak, attract pests, or spoil in transit.

3. Plants

Some states restrict plant transport across borders. In local moves, plants may still suffer from heat or jostling in the truck. It’s best to move them in your own vehicle with care.

4. Valuables and Personal Documents

Keep jewelry, passports, cash, legal documents, and essential medications with you — not in the truck. These items are irreplaceable and safer in your control.

5. Weapons and Ammunition

Firearms and ammo should be transported according to legal regulations, not by your moving company. Discuss options with a licensed dealer if needed.

6. Pets and Live Animals

No animals should ever be placed in a moving truck. Move your pets in a secure, temperature-controlled vehicle with plenty of breaks and comfort.
