Label the Top and One Side
A top label helps before stacking, while a side label remains visible after boxes are stacked in the truck or room.
Include Useful Information
Write the destination room, a short contents description, and handling instructions such as FRAGILE, THIS SIDE UP, or OPEN FIRST.
Use a Simple Color System
Assign one color to each room and place a matching sign at the destination. Keep the written room name too, because stickers can fall off.
Number Important Boxes
For example, label kitchen boxes 1 of 8 through 8 of 8. Keep a private inventory for valuable contents without writing sensitive details on the carton.
Prepare an Essentials Box
Clearly mark chargers, toiletries, medications, basic tools, bedding, and next-day clothing. Keep documents and valuables with you.
