Move-In Cleaning Checklist

Empty home being cleaned before furniture and boxes arrive

Clean Before the Truck Arrives

An empty home is easier to clean. If possible, complete the major work before furniture and boxes enter the space.

Start High and Work Down

Dust vents, fans, shelves, cabinets, window frames, and baseboards before cleaning floors. This prevents repeating work.

Kitchen and Bathroom

Sanitize counters, sinks, cabinets, appliances, toilets, tubs, and showers. Confirm that water, electricity, and appliances function before moving day.

Floors and Access Routes

Vacuum or mop rooms and clear the paths the movers will use. Allow wet floors to dry fully to reduce slipping risk.

Safety Check

Test smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, change locks if appropriate, locate the electrical panel and water shutoff, and confirm that exterior lighting works.
